Turn a folder of photos into a party video.

Drop in your photos and some music. Photo Montage Maker arranges them for a landscape screen, adds transitions, and saves a finished MP4. It’s free, and your photos never leave your computer.

Works in Chrome and Edge on a computer. No sign-up.

Layout:

Built for the big screen at the party

Most slideshow tools assume your photos are landscape and your screen is a phone. This one starts from a camera roll full of portrait shots and a DJ booth screen.

No black bars

Portrait photos sit over a blurred copy of themselves, go side by side, or get a layout of their own. You decide how each one fills the screen.

Ten layouts

One photo, a polaroid, two, three or four across, stacked, one big and two small, grids of four and six, and a scatter of polaroids. Use one for the whole video, let Mix choose, or set any single slide.

More than twenty transitions

Fades, pushes, wipes, a page flip, a cube, confetti, a heart and more. Use one throughout, let Mix pick, or set the transition for each slide.

Photos from the same time stay together

The tool reads the date each photo was taken, puts them in order, and only shares a slide between photos taken close together. A toddler never ends up beside a ten-year-old. You set how close counts.

Music that fits

Add MP3, M4A or WAV files. Songs crossfade, the last one fades out at the end, and you can trim each. If the music is too short, the tool tells you by how much. You can also match the photo timing to the music, but only if you ask.

Edit without starting over

Change seconds per photo for everything or for one slide. Drag slides to reorder, take a single photo off a slide, undo mistakes, and see which uploaded photos aren’t used yet.

A standard video file

Export an MP4 at 720p, 1080p or 4K. Give it a name and it downloads when it’s ready. It plays in most video players, TVs and DJ software.

Picks up where you left off

Your arrangement, settings, dates and music are remembered in your browser. Save a project file to keep a copy or move to another computer.

From camera roll to video in five steps

  1. Add your photos

Choose the folder, or drag photos in. Three hundred is fine. JPEG, PNG and WebP work. iPhone HEIC photos need converting to JPEG first.

  2. Pick a look

Choose a layout and a transition, or leave both on Mix. Set how many seconds each photo shows. Photos are arranged in the order they were taken.

  3. Add music, if you want it

Upload one song or several. A bar shows how the music lines up with your slideshow.

  4. Check and adjust

Play the preview. Click any slide to change its layout, transition, timing or photos. Fix dates on photos that don’t have them.

  5. Export

Name the file, choose a size, and start. Keep the tab open while it renders. The video downloads as soon as it’s done.

Ten ways to fill the screen

Mix them for variety, or pick one and stick with it. Each layout is chosen to suit portrait or landscape photos.

Music that works with your slideshow

The music is laid out under your slides, so you can see at a glance whether it’s too short or too long.

Shorter than the slideshow? Add another song, repeat the playlist, or fit the photo timing to the music. If that would make photos flash by in under two seconds, the tool warns you and suggests adding a song instead. Longer? It fades out at the end of the video.

Songs overlap slightly for a crossfade. Anything past the end of the video is cut.

Your photos stay on your computer

    • Everything happens inside your browser. Photos and music are never uploaded to a server, because there isn’t one to receive them.
    • No account, no sign-up, no watermark.
    • Your work is remembered in your own browser storage, and your finished video goes to your Downloads folder.
    • No advertising and no tracking cookies. The site keeps simple anonymous counts, such as how many people visit and how many videos are made each day, to see whether the tool is being used. Nothing in those counts identifies you, and they never include your photos, music or file names. Like any website, the company that hosts it may also keep ordinary server logs.

    Questions

    Is it really free?

Yes. There’s no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of photos. If it saves you an evening, you can chip in with a donation, but you never have to.

    Which browsers work?

Chrome and Edge on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer. Exporting uses a video feature that those browsers provide. Other browsers can open the tool, but the Export button will be switched off. Phones and tablets aren’t supported.

    My iPhone photos won’t load

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which browsers can’t read. Convert them to JPEG first. On an iPhone, go to Settings, Photos, then Transfer to Mac or PC, and choose Automatic so photos arrive as JPEGs when you connect to a computer.

Why does a photo say “No date”?

Photos sent through WhatsApp, Messenger or iMessage, or saved from a website, often lose the date they were taken. The tool tells you which photos have no date and why, and lets you set dates yourself, for one photo or many at once.

How long does an export take?

Every frame is drawn on your own computer, so it depends on the machine, the video length and the size you choose. Allow several minutes for a ten-minute video at 1080p. Keep the tab open and visible while it works.

How many photos can I use?

I’ve tested it with 300. Only a handful of photos are held in memory at a time, so large sets are fine on most computers.

Can I paste a link to a song?

Only a direct link to an audio file, and only if that website allows it. YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud and similar sites don’t allow other pages to take music from them, so for those you’ll need to add the audio as a file.

    Can I use any music?

You’re responsible for having the right to use the music you add. A video with someone else’s music can be muted or blocked if you post it publicly. Playing it at your own party is a different matter.

What if I close the tab?

Your arrangement, settings, dates and music are kept in your browser. You’ll need to add the photos folder again, and the tool puts everything back as it was. Use Save project if you want a backup file.
